Shabbat Chazon, named after the first word of the haftarah, is the Shabbat immediately preceding Tishah B’Av – the 9th day of the month of Av. The mood of this mourning period intrudes upon the joyous spirit of Shabbat as some of the synagogue music foreshadows the upcoming day of lamentation
